I was a letter carrier in Pennsylvania for a few years. Mine was a park and walk route, so even though I hauled the mail out in a Jeep, I walked 95% of the route to do the actual deliveries. I often walked with a pipe in my mouth through wind, as well as both summer's heat and the winter's cold. Not once did I encounter ill effects with any of my pipes. Though I must admit that rain wasn't as amicable.

Pipe and wind just sux. A little of a breeze can really damage a pipe, they say. Dunno personally since I never smoked a new one outdoors. Every serious pipe guy or pipe merchant sez, however, never smoke one in any kind of breeze unless/until it's well caked to prevent burning out the briar.

Or smoke a meer! I'm sure that you won't have to worry about it being too cold outside for a meer this time of year...
