I don't inhale. As a few other people already said, you taste the tobacco in your mouth & nose, not your lungs. Also it hurts like crazy.

Not unless I want to get dizzy, black out, and possibly throw up!

I left a stogie in my mouth while putting once, it was about a 35 foot putt and I think when I putt in unconsciously inhale as I draw the putter back... I stroked the putt just fine but I came out hacking with the world spinning loops around me!

Re: Do You Inhale?

I voted yes to inhaling, but I don't inhale in the normal definition. I like to let the smoke roll out of my mouth and I inhale through my nose lightly to get the aroma. I don't inhale through my mouth as one would with a cigarette, nor do I take in copious amounts through my nose. I don't draw in deeply through my nose either, just into the upper airway.

Re: Do You Inhale?

Funny story, while I pretty much never allow others to smoke my pipes, I have a buddy who smokes two packs a day, and I wanted to see if pipe smoke was really as hard on the lungs as they say. Thinking his lungs would be the perfect to test this out on, I passed him a smoldering bowl of a strong va/per and instructed him to inhale.

He went into a coughing fit in between gasps of "Man" and "Jesus Christ". So, yeah. One hit kicked his ass.

Re: Do You Inhale?

as with cigars, I definitely refrain from inhaling. Being a pipe newbie, I haven't had the chance to do much inhaling on that end, but I know the nicotine buzz I got from when I'd accidentally inhaled a couple times during my cigar smoking didn't make me feel too good.

the peacefully puffing of the pipe smoke without the heavy buzz is preferable

Re: Do You Inhale?

Not any more. When i started smoking pipes after 10+ years of (chain)-smoking cigarettes i had hard time NOT to inhale. But now after six months of training i rarely inhale, i think the smoke tastes terrible if you inhale.

BUT i do inhale very small amounts thru my nose, just to get the scent.

Agreed! I did the same for 12 years, and I have since retired my lungs.

HaHaH!
Funny image you presented.

I dont inhale either. I imagine the need for it is connected to getting a bigger kick of nicotine in the system.
Through puffing and blowing out, I get enough nicotine running through my veins to keep the fix satisfied.
