Re: Do you mix your own blends?

I tried Irish Black Twist recently for the first time and was impressed with it, but the second smoke was rather boring I thought, just pure tobacco, so I added a pich of Erinmore Balkan to it (1/3), and there you go! This blend now has some sweetness and taste, at the same time it is strong and pure tobacco.
My favourite smoke with beer!

Almost every tin or baggie of tobacco I get that I don't care for gets the blending treatment. I take a small amount of the original and add perique and/or burley, orientals and sometimes other full blends. Occasionally I get something smokable.

Re: Do you mix your own blends?

I mixed up a small batch of Mac Baren Virginia #1 and McClelland Blending Perique this evening. A very lively smoke indeed.

Re: Do you mix your own blends?

Couldn't decide what to load my first bowl with today, so I'm trying a combination of H&H Larry's Blend, which I'm currently putting through the "tryout phase" (so far, I like, but it's no Squadron Leader...) with Carter Hall, one part Larry's to two parts Carter. Kind of interesting; sort of like smoking Carter Hall in a pipe with serious English ghosts. I don't think I'm ready to switch careers, though...

I have both of those...may have to try that blend myself.

Re: Do you mix your own blends?

Just browsing around over here, I've an affinity for cigars, but'll smoke my pipe a couple of times a week. When I do I like to load half-3/4 a bowl of something called "Irish Mist" and then top it off with something else called "Nostalgia". I like the flavor change mid-smoke.

Re: Do you mix your own blends?

Me loves Mac Baren's Burley London Blend but it wants to bite me if I'm not careful. Therefore the bowl gets a good portion of Carter Hall to make things safe. I don't mix them together in the tin since one is broken flake though.
