I'll have to try the rubber tips. I just don't like the taste and feel of the plastic. Pretty much destroys the smoke for me.

I ordered my most recent cobs from Keep Smilin.com and they included an extra stem for each pipe; thought that was pretty cool.

I'm not really a big fan of the cobs, I think they are great for $5 to try different tobaccos, but the plastic bits are so flimsy (I put a huge dent in one the first time I tried to clench one of the new ones I just got) and I don't like that the hole in the stem isn't anywhere near the bottom of the bowl.

Finally got a Country Gentleman cob! I like it better than the Legend because of the bigger bowl. Got more quality time with the smoking. I'll still use the Legend when I want a quick smoke. Broke in the Country Gentleman with some GH Dark Flake scented.

Like many in this thread, I'm a big fan of the bent Country Gentleman. That is my "truck" pipe and it lives in the center console, ready to help me survive traffic.

The old owner of the store used to send his corncobs out to get more substantial stems put on the pipes. I'll try and remember to ask him who did the work next time I see him. Seems weird to spend more on retrofitting a decent stem than you did on the pipe to begin with though...
