Dunhill question...

Hello to all, finally signed up after a year of lurking. Was wondering if anyone else has experienced extreme dry mouth after a bowl or two of Dunhill 965 and Early Morning? Or did I get a bad batch? Got some bulk and they both seem to leave me extremely parched. Any questions, ideas, suggestions?
Once again this is an excellent site.
thanks
Manny

Re: Dunhill question...

Does it appear dry to the touch? Perhaps it just needs a bit of rehydrating. When I used to buy 965 in bulk at a B&M, it usually needed to be put in a large bowl with a moist paper towel over it for a few hours.

Re: Dunhill question...

I bought some "bulk 965" down in Florida a few weeks ago and it's OK but I doubted it was 965 after I smoked a few bowls. Given the absence of Dunhill anything in the US for so many months it is possible you're smoking something that is, maybe, possibly, not exactly 100% actually Dunhill tobacco. Hey. It happens, sad to say. I never heard of Dunhill drymouth before either but maybe that happens too.

If you're finding the bulk 965 sub-par after a little rehydration you might wander over to Stokkebyes Proper English. It is smooth, easy, very nice and not hardly light-years away from 965.

Re: Dunhill question...

I saw some "Dunhill inspired" blends out there and was thinking the very same thing. Thanks for the referral.
I got this from DW Cigar AKA Lone Wolf Cigar in Santa Monica. Anyone have any experience with them?

Mister Moo, that faux 965 tasted great to me; perhaps one advantage of never having had the real Dunhill thing before. So again thanks for the gift.

Re: Dunhill question...

I personally think that it may be the orientals in the blend rather than the moisture content...If you've never smoked a lot of lat or orientals those tend to give you dry mouth especially if you smoke hot. I don't know, just say'n.

Re: Dunhill question...

English blends in general smoke a little dry IMO. I keep a bottle of water nearby if I become too parched. The bright side of this problem is no annoying spittle in the stem to have to deal with while smoking.
