My return was likely a short one. I imagine one of the forum moderators will be the only one lucky enough to read it.

This forum has always been a-political. I never was able to get that. Why you might ask? Because there is a political faction that is out to end tobacco. It's that simple. If the Democrat party gets their way our past time will cease to exist. There. I brought politics right out front and from this point on I refuse to ignore the 500 pound gorilla in the corner. Barak Obama will do anything and everything in his power to see that you, and I, will never light up again. Why is it against the rules to state that FACT in this forum? Does this forum originate from the United States or does it come from Europe or some of the other less free nations? I ask that sincerely because I don't know. Because if this is a US based forum, our ancestors that fought for our freedom would roll over in their graves to know that it is against THE RULES to state the truth. The truth being that it is AGAINST THE RULES to face a fascist dictator and tell him that if he wants my pipe full of tobacco, he'll have to pry it from my cold............, dead.............., fingers. Why this forum can't discuss the fact that we will all be hiding in our basements in the near future as we smoke the last of that tin of Penzance, hoping The State doesn't discover us, I don't fully understand. Because me.......... I'm a fighter. I'm a Rebel by definition. I've never accepted anything that an authority presented to me without asking this one question. Why? Tell me why. Why can't I discuss facts? Why can't I enjoy what makes me happy? Why should I do what you tell me to do? Why. A simple word. Tends to piss off anyone in authority because it puts them on point and forces them to pay you, a peon, some attention. And forces them to answer a question they don't have a good answer for.

Why?

I've enjoyed this forum. Tell everyone, Mr Moderator, that I wish them all the best. Well, everyone except the Democrats. They'll all get the hell they deserve!

Well, I personally hope this kind of thread isn't allowed here. You claim to be a fighter and a rebel. As far as I can see, you're just a spoiled child, screaming about the evils of "the other side". Frankly, I'm sick of that from both sides of the political spectrum, and I hope this forum remains a place where we won't be subjected to such tantrums.

I think if the subject is smoking related anything should be alllowed. The present laws being discussed in the US with regard to tobacco are reasons for real concern and do highlight personal freedom issues in society today. I think a good old rant is going to be the most effective thing a person can do. Sadly society due to media saturation tends to be excessively goaded by generic or common opinions. For me rules can be there to help create a free society, but more often the opposite occurs. So I'm with you Parris because I know that if the US brings in these crazy rules on tobacco it's only a matter of time before Europe follows.

Lastly I think people growing their own tobacco is going to become a major thing in future years. If there is a will, there is a way. Plant the seed my friends.

I don't think the government will ever take tobacco away. Here in Australia we have a higher rate of smoking per capita than the USA and much, much higher taxes. They will not remove it from sale in the near future but be ready for a steep price increase. (I have been smoking for 8 years here in AU and in that time the price had doubled!)

I can answer your question easily.

Because that is the way the owner wants it! Not that hard to figure out. This is a private forum so you have no right to free speech here. If the owner decides something should not be discussed that is his right.

Let's say that you were in someones house and started a conversation on (just for the fun of it) Corvettes. If the owner of the home tells you he does not want that conversation discussed in his home it is really simple, do you disrespect him or do you move on to another topic! It is his home so therefore it is his rules!

The RULE here about political discussion was brought up for specific reasons. Most members come here to relax while having a nice smoke or learning experience and really do not want to see the Right/Left pissing matches that happen everytime a political thread is started.

We have a section where you can discuss tobacco legislation as long as you do so in a respectful manner. That means no right wing/ left wing, Democrat/ Republican type bashing.

There are many political forums on the web that will allow you to argue your viewpoint until your hearts content but this is not one of them. I really hope that you will stick around and contribute to the forum but I also ask you to respect the owners wish of keeping politics out of it.
