Stanwell Outsourcing
As a longtime fan of Stanwell pipes I'm saddened to see that they're closing their shop. The article states they'll be outsourcing their pipes to a contract manufacturer. I've never been a fan of outsourced, branded products. I wonder where they'll be manufactured.

I saw this announced a couple weeks ago in a language I couldn't translate online. Sucks.

Yeah, the big question is where. "The future contract manufacturer will be a company with a long history of producing pipes of a quality, which can match the present superior quality of Stanwell." Italy or England? Or somewhere less expected, like Germany. At least this language tells me it won't be China.

Suddenly having a Stanwell stamped "Made in Denmark" will clearly date and separate it from new pipes. I feel like I should snatch a few more up, but I don't like supporting this move with more sales.

Well thats a shame. I just picked up a stanwell buffalo yesterday, my first stanwell ever. It is a gorgeous pipe though smokes a tad below my petersons imo. To be fair its not broken in yet either I guess.

If it is in eastern europe (yeah Mike I heard Italy too but I was thinking the member stated it as hear-say) there are lots of pipe makers in eastern europe, we just haven't heard of many of them because of the age old east/west thing difference in alphabet, language, culture, etc. I've read about pipemakers in Poland and the former czechoslovakia but there are a lot of eastern countries beyond what used to be called central europe
