Update from the Mayor
Just a quick update. I was back in Ireland and as some of you may remember my Mother's cousin (Maidy) had sent her some pipes on hearing I smoked. Well some went straight in the bin, a couple where purely ornamental but I did salvage a very nice Kaywoodie flame grain and a Punto Oro Savinelli, both cleaned up real good, both date from the 1960's from what I figure. The Sav had a drill bit stuck in the stem so as a result was in great shape.
Of course I had to smoke some local blends while there, McQuaids Plug and Condor where two I had yet still to try....very nice too. However at €15.80 for a 50gr pouch I didn't indulge myself too much.  Although I was visiting my parents in Dublin, I took a week in south west Cork which is an amazing place, staying on the cliffs of beara the next stop west is Canada and south would be the west African coast. Its a nice part of the world, the very south west tip of Ireland.  I met up with my Cousin wo was also on Holidays in Castletownbeara which has quite a famous pub called McCarthy's.....Ireland has many 'famous' pubs...usually because a famous author used to drink there.  Other than the trip the main highlights of the summer have been getting into Burleys, Carter hall from Moo and a trade with N7OF (Brian) for a can of Prince Albert. I also tried my first tin of Solani's Aged Burley flake which is an absolute must for Burley fans. I popped a tin of GL Peases Union Square which I've almost finished in two days...amazing, so I've been getting back into my VA's more recently. Lastly, it's been great catching up on posts over the past week or so, good to see it's all been trucking along nicely....it might quieten down during vacation season but I'm sure a few of us will still be in town.... Just checkn' in....Dub |

Glad to see you're having a good holiday Dub. Enjoy the family and get some rest, looks like you're in a beautiful place to do it in.

Is sure is nice to get away isn't it? My family will be heading to the Outer Banks of North Carolina for a week.

Great photos. Sounds like a wonderful trip. Are those prices so high because of local Irish taxes or is it something else? Are the prices that high in England and Scotland? That sounds like a lot of money for 50g.
