Started in high school in 1971. Tried a lot of different blends for the first 5-6 years then smoked nothing but black cavendish up until about 5 yrs ago when I discovered pipe forums and the wonderful world of internet shopping....my wallets downfall....now I have 40-50 tins and about 5lbs of various bulks. I'm set for about 10-12 years.

I dabbled for many years but didn't seriously get the bug until about 10 years ago. That's when I started trying many kinds of premium tobaccos and building a nice pipe collection. There have been off times over the last decade as well as I got more into cigars or the mood changed, but the pipe was always there and is once again at the forefront.

Tried my first bowl my freshman year in college 22 years ago, very off and on since, mostly off. Maybe 20-40 a bowls a year now, which is up from what may have been once a month for the longest time. Just amazed by those who can have more than one a day. Where do you find the time?

From '82 - '95 (13 years) and then 2007 to present, total of 15 years.

I've been burning tobacco in pipes (and tongue sometimes) for about 15 years, since I was 17. My first was Borkum Riff Cherry (argh!).

Started in the sixties. Then again in the 80's. Took it up again seriously in December 2008 and have really enjoyed it. The first time in 40 years I have not smoked a cigarette. It would be great if all of the members could gather so each of us could see what the other smoked. This forum has been a great help to me.
