any new dunhill rumors?

i know there are old threads on here about this. but i thought it was time for a new one.

has anybody heard any new rumors about dunhill getting a new U.S. distributor?

The local B&M said he talked with the CAO rep. and he said they would be importing Dunhill tins only. No bulk.
Just what I heard.

I'm only speculating here but I honestly do not believe there's any cause for alarm on Dunhill tobaccos. As long as someone is making them, they'll eventually be imported back into the U.S. Huge market for the stuff. I've heard the CAO rumor and I find it very believable. Someone will step up and distribute them in the U.S, and make a lot of money (for a pipe tobacco distributor, anyway) in so doing.

We'd end up smoking all the Elizabethan, but we'd make money on the rest.

As a side project, I think we should make up tins of Balkan Sobranie and sell 'em on Ebay. Somebody just paid $415 for 8 oz of 759. We can put horse dung inside the tin because I know the buyer is just going to cellar it. Then when he opens it, we just say "Damn, but doesn't that blend change with aging on it!", all the while having looks of happy amazement on our faces.

Oddly enough, my B&M has no trouble getting Dunhill cigarettes. I don't know how all that works but maybe whoever is bringing in the cigs could do the pipe weed as well.

There has long been, and continues to be, much confusion over who actually manufactures Dunhill pipe tobacco these days. A couple of years ago, Orlik bought a number of brands from BAT, which had the Dunhill line. But according to what I've seen, Dunhill was not among the brands Orlik purchased. I do think, though, that BAT is no longer the manufacturer of Dunhill pipe tobacco, though it does make Dunhill cigarettes.
By the way, Dunhill pipes and Dunhill tobacco have no connection whatsoever and have not for decades.
