I want to get into a pipe to kinda fill in the cigar times. Where do I need to look to find a pipe and such?? What would be good for someone that doesnt really know anything? How much should I pay?
Thanks Jeremy

Re: questions
I would suggest a Corn Cob and a decent English Blend. I would suggest one of the Dunhill Standard Mixtures or my mixture 965 to start with. They smoke cool and have some nice flavors in them that may appeal to a cigar smoker.

Re: questions
That's a big question. A simple answer would be to check into Wessex, Stanwell or Savinelli pipes, as they are reliable and (relatively) inexpensive. Here is a link to a very reliable dealer with good prices: www.marscigars.com (BTW he's got a Moretti Smooth for $79 which is an awesome deal.)
There are some excellent pipe tobaccos which include cigar leaf. Some of these include GL Pease Robusto, C&D Billy Budd, James J. Fox Bankers. Personally, I will take an English blend like Lancers Slices or Gawith Commonwealth and mix about 2" of chopped cigar into a handfull of pipe tobacco. It's really very good. The variety of pipe tobaccos is extensive. If you have a good tobacco shop in your area, buy a few small bags of various types, just to get an idea of the "genre's" available - say, Virginias, English blends, American Burley's, and Aromatics. Then you can hone in on the genre's and find the specific tobaccos you like best. If you don't have a good tobacco shop, talk to Mike at Mars Cigar, and he'll set you up with a few sampler packages. |
