Perique? mix it?

I picked up some Perique tonight because it is a name that sounded familiar from this forum but I cant seem to find the threads I was reading about it now.
Do I want to smoke it straight or use as mixer type baccy? Sorry if this has already been asked on here but I can't seem to find the answer.

If you're going to do much blending, you should smoke a little bit of it straight so you know what it adds to a blend. But generally it is a condiment (mixer) tobacco.

perique in itself is quite strong, and has a bitter, mushroomy taste. mix it with virginia (like va/per 90%/10%), and it changes it character completely. it's pure magic. it's so extreme that one blend which i mixed from pure virginia and perique, ended up tasting as if somemone had added a top flavour of plum juice! add a little more, and it becomes chocolat'ish; add a little less, and it just seems very slightly peppery and citrusy.

The only tobacco I've ever smoked, aside from Perique itself, that can take over a blend when mixed with ANYTHING else is, interestingly enough, Gawith and Hoggarth's Kendal Kentucky. It's a mix of African fire-cured burleys, and when I've mixed it with anything else, the taste of KK comes through loud and clear. I've recently mason jar'd an ounce of it mixed with an ounce of perique as an experiment... kind of a Clash of the Titans... winner take all. It'll be ready in about a week and it should be interesting.
