I'll say this, though; every tobacco mentioned here but one was already on my list of tobaccos to try, so I'll get to them all eventually! (The exception was 1792; I don't like the sound of that tonquin stuff...) Thanks to all for the help, and for those of you who want to see me lose it by smoking Irish Flake, be patient; I just have to get my nerve up! |

Re: Looking for a tin suggestion...
Well, I made my order today (along with a tin of Drama Reserve), but bad news: pipesandcigars.com is out of FVF!
First Squadron Leader, and now this; the rest of you must be stocking up faster than I am! Fortunately my order was kind of heavy on Virginia Flakes anyway, and a few substitutions from my 'must try ' list (including Best Brown, Rick!) filled out the order, but this is getting frustrating! |

Re: Looking for a tin suggestion...
I got the BBF because the FVF was out of stock. I am very happy with it. I would also recommend a tin or two of McClellands Christmas Cheer for your next order, and I hear a lot of good things about Plum Pudding.

Re: Looking for a tin suggestion...
I substituted Blackwoods Flake and the Frog Morton sampler set (yeah, I know; the Froggy stuff doesn't make sense as a substitute for FVF, but my order was already pretty heavy on Virginia Flakes anyway. I've had this craving lately...) I almost ordered the Christmas Cheer, but decided against it. If I ordered one and liked it, what if I couldn't get it again? If I ordered two or three to prevent that and didn't like it, well, there's a problem as well. I dunno; I just skipped it and avoided the issue. Since my 'must try' list has grown to over 100 different tobaccos, it's not like I'm struggling to find something to buy!
I opened my empty FVF tin last night, took a deep whiff, and got depressed all over again. ![]() |

Re: Looking for a tin suggestion...
Holy crap. I got the "your order shipped" email confirmation today, and no Squadron Leader, either. They still shipped for free, but I'm bummed. The two tobaccos that I knew I liked and wanted to stock up on are not there. Oh well; I can dive right into the new stuff...

Re: Looking for a tin suggestion...
Escudo is a must.
After that, I'd go with Marlin Flake, St. James Flake, Reiners, Stonehaven. These are pretty much consensus favorites. |

Re: Looking for a tin suggestion...
1792 is something you have to try - it is different, it is strong. But it is good. I can probably work through 1 tin of this a year, tops. But it is one of those that you will get an itch for...

Re: Looking for a tin suggestion...
Mark, I think you'll be happy with the Frog sampler. I've really enjoyed FM and FMOTT. That there is some good puffin!
