I think you're right. I'm particularly annoyed by doctors claiming smoking a pipe is as dangerous as smoking cigarettes. Even if the rate of mouth cancer for pipe smokers is as high as the rate of lung cancer for cig smokers, the emphysema for ciggies compared to your teeth falling out for pipe smokers seems to be a bit lopsided. Let's see, wearing dentures or not being able to breath...not a hard choice for me!
But then a lot of 'dangerous things' seem to be exaggerated these days. Hey, we had child molesters and serial killers when I was a kid, we just didn't go into a panic in Delaware when a child molester was loose in Arizona, you know? Nowadays, if the local news can't find any shocking news to lead with, they'll take something from halfway across the country, and everyone panics. It's a crazy world...
