Middleton's Tobaccos

Many folks knock Drug Store tobaccos. However, Middleton tobaccos are darn good. Sugar Barrel, Prince Albert, and Carter Hall are all part of my rotation. While I smoke a variety of tobaccos including Hearth and Home Blends, 1792 and Bracken Flake, Gourmet English and IRC VA Flake, Mixture 78 from Pipeworks and Wilke, etc. All of these are great smokes. Nevertheless, I find myself reaching for PA, CH, and Sugar Barrel more than I do some of the others.

You don't have to justify what you like. I've found PA fun to smoke on occasion, but none of these are in my regular rotation (CH's topping is mildly distasteful to me and I haven't tried SB yet). On the other hand, someone sent me some dried out and aged Granger which I thought was very good indeed. The real test of tobacco is how it pleases the smoker. Whatever you like is good, and should be smoked whenever you feel like it.

Actually, it's named after Walnut Street in Philly. I don't know what it tastes like.

Re: Middleton's Tobaccos

Middleton's Walnut is, for me anyways, best described as a "light English" yet there's a difference... I'm guessing it's the heavy Burley base. Whatever it is I like it.

I like PA and Carter Hall.

Altadis Nightcap Match has become a favorite. It's good baccy and priced like the drug store variety.

Re: Middleton's Tobaccos

Is Prince Albert different then Black n Mild?

I tried the Black n Mild and did not like it.

I am trying to find some sort of replacement of nicotine fix that I can use in the daytime while I am quitting smoking cigs

Just something to help take the edge off

Re: Middleton's Tobaccos

CH is my regular smoke as I keep a bail top full of it, and I usually have a pouch of PA kicking around. I've also got a bunch of other stuff and really enjoy the Frog's blends as well. One of these days I'll pick up some Walnut though. Now I just need a nice S Bang to fill with CH!!!

There's a reason why some of it's been around for over a hundred years and it's not just because it's cheap. It's because it's good tobacco. I always have a pouch or two of PA sitting around. Now and then I'll get a wild hair and grab a pouch of Sir Walter too. I have some CH somewhere. Most likely in a jar under the bed or in a drawer or maybe a closet.

If my house ever burns down all the smokers in town will rush over to sniff the fumes.
