Curious about pipe smoking...

I've always had a curiosity for pipe smoking and would love to try it out. I am primarily a cigar smoker but I would like to give the pipe a chance as an alternative for when I don't have any cigars or feel like a change of pace.

Any tobacco and pipe suggestions would be wonderful, when I smoke cigars I usually enjoy medium to full bodied smokes.

Most people suggest a cob & some drugstore tobacco to see if you like smoking a pipe. If you want something sorta "cigar like", maybe give some Samuel Gawith tobaccos a try. I really like 1792, Full Virginia Flake, & Bracken Flake.

If you like cigars, you already like tobacco, so I'd agree with Jeff, along with the added note of making sure you're grabbing Prince Albert or Carter Hall rather than Borkum Riff or Captain Black...

Yeah only recommend Borkum Riff to people you want to quit smoking a pipe.

I would suggest picking up a cheap cob pipe at your local smoke shop. Since you're already a cigar lover, I'm sure you can find one. And if you have access to it by now - visit the pipe WTS/WTT forum and join the noobie trade. Get a ton of samplers from experienced fellas such as meself
