David I saw your post on the other forum and you've probaly realized this but they have to approve each message before they post. Seems ridiculous to me but hey I'm sure they have their reasons I guess.

Thanks for the warm welcome and I will keep an eye out this week for flawed (Second) pipes at a few local places around here.

Re: Help me find my first briar pipe!

Well if you're interested, I made a little pipe this weekend that smokes just fine. The drilling was off-center (and consequently the shank is too) but I used it to try some new stuff and after a couple of hours it was a pipe. Its about 5 1/2" long with a 7/8 bore. I'll polish the stem and mail it to you if you're interested.

Damn thats one nice looking pipe, your very skilled. I am interested in it I'm not sure what the policy on trading or selling pipes is on this forum, or if there is one? Just let me know your email and I can give you my address and we can work out how much you want for it or whatnot. That is if your still willing to part with it.

Do you make pipes just in your spare time or are you like a proffesional?

Oh ya I would give you my email but I can't it says I need 30 posts to do that.

I'm learning the pipe making art when I'm not in school and not working. Yesterday I was messing with some medium sized blocks attempting to make a canadian and my drill bit overheated and warped which threw the drilling off so I went ahead and roughed the block in and shaped it by rusticating it, just for the learning experience. You'll notice when you get it, it looks like one of those "left-handed pipes" (tobacco pipes, not dope pipes) from the 60s or 70s that you see on Ebay from time to time, but it'll smoke fine. I'll try to touch it up tomorrow and get it in the mail on Wednesday. You can find my email on my profile page or copy it here (novembergray@hotmail.com). I won't even think of taking money for it since its only roughly complete, ie - toolmarks, shank doesn't completely match the stem, rim is chewed up on the front, etc. Don't take that the wrong way, its just that I cut the shank to accommodate a petite stem that I haven't had the chance to try using before, and not really planning to finish the pipe I didn't turn the tenon down much so the mortise walls are pretty thin as is.
