Churchwardens

You know, the churchwarden has to be the most pretentious, silliest pipe in the world. Smoking a churchwarden seems to me to be the pipester equivalent of wearing Spock ears. How can you not look like a total nerd with such a pipe?

So I'm thinking the Peterson smooth prince...anyone got one? Any comments?

No, but I think everyone should have at least one CW

I don't yet have a CW either, but would like to pick one up sometime.

Re: Churchwardens

I wouldn't turn down a free churchwarden, but I'm not about to buy one. I just don't care about a pipe's stem. If it's drilling is open enough and it fits in a shirt pocket, I'm set.

This is killing me. Thanks for a good laugh. Set your Zippo's to stun.

I wouldn't mind owning a churchwarden, but would probably spend $70 or so on something else. I'm not up to buying estate pipes yet. Maybe if I knew it was used by Frodo...

Re: Churchwardens

CW's are excelent pipes for a sitting room smoke.
They have extra-long stems which helps ( a lot) cooling down the smoke, so you'd suffer less from them.
Excelent to smoke those tobaccos that bite you hard.
I own a Peterson CW Prince, which I love, but I think the bowl is too small. I find it hard to pack properly.
It should be a little bigger.

Re: Churchwardens

I have one, a Peterson, and I smoke it, I don't smoke it when I drive as it gets stuck in the steering wheel. It is not my favorite pipe, but I too believe everyone should have one. They make for a nice cool smoke

I'd love to get a Hans Christian Andersen, I think it's a great shape and the changeable stem would make it a little more versatile.

Re: Churchwardens

Ok a little off topic, but I've been smoking a lot of Va's & Burley's lately, any suggestions for a Churchwarden that would be a good first for me based on those types of tobaccos?

I actually have one of those, bought it a couple years ago.

I still haven't changed out the stem to try it out as a churchwarden yet.

Re: Churchwardens

The Stanwells are nice, but for me there's just something about the Prince shape as a churchwarden.
