Prices going up where you live?

I was at the smoke store today and saw they got two tubs of PA. A week or so ago I had them order me several tubs of it. Now the price has increased by $4 a tub. I am unaware of any new tobacco taxes in Missouri. Is the price going up everywhere or are they just trying to stick it to me now that they know I'll buy it from them?

With SCHIP taxes as well as other state and local taxes (sin taxes mostly), a 100 gr. tin of Mac Baren Navy Flake ran me $26 at a B&M in Ann Arbor Michigan.

I hate paying that much when I know that I could go out on the innah-web and find it available more cheaply. On the other hand I think it's important to keep the local B&M's in business. Besides, trust the guv-mint to figure out in short order how to tax 'baccy purchases made over the 'net.

Ain't it funny how "profit-taking" is always criminal when done by private enterprise, but when good ol' Uncle Sam robs you blind with taxes and fees it's a good and necessary thing.

pipe tobac only went $1 or $2 per pound after SCHIP, can't blame the increase on that. sounds like the B&M owner is taxin' ya pretty hard.

Yeah, sounds like the dealer is using tax increases to cover a bit of his own increase to me, but who knows.

Missouri has some of the lowest taxes period. I doubt it's taxes from the MO end but the owner uping prices from either other taxes or for reasons such as increase in rent, increase in costs or heck, wants to make more money.....or maybe just knows you'll pay the cost!

I think I'm going to go back to buying pouches at Wally World. It's actually cheaper now.
