Pipe smokers + cigar smokers = ?

Hey guys, I was just wondering if pipe smokers and cigar smokers ever meet up and "herf"? Like what happens when smokers of each faction were to come in contact with each other? Do you we (we being cigar and pipe smokers) ever have turf wars? Do pipe smokers and cigar smokers find each others' smokes offensive? Does pig and elephant DNA just not splice?

I haven't smoke cigars regularly in years, though I think my old humidor is in one of the boxes in the closet there. Once the cheapies at the local store started costing as much as I used to pay for my Arturo Fuente 8-5-8s, I kind of lost interest. Yeah, I'm a tightwad...

Good question as I herf regularly with people but have never had a pipe smoker show up. I love pipes and cigars and find pipe tobacco smells better and tastes better as well. This would be a good idea for those who smoke pipes to herf it up with us cigar people.

lol we should throw an annual puff-fest!!!! I've never smelled pipe+cigar smoke before... That'd be some kinda fun eh?

I agree pipe smell better, but I don't agree that they taste better. I think cigars flavors are more bold for better lack of a work. But then again its opinion

Actually I enjoy both and I bet that there are many like me. Actually I know so. Granted, I go for the stick more often than the bowl.
I bet like with anything, you will find some diehards that "their" smoke is better than his smoke, there are always the elitists in any group.

I've regularly smoked my pipe in the company of cigar smokers. I prefer pipe tobacco because the range of flavors is broader (in my pea-sized mind, anyway) and if I get a tight draw, I simply empty and refill the bowl rather than chuck a $15 stick in the trashbarrel. There are other reasons and cigar smokers have theirs as well. I probably smoke 2-3 cigars a year - when I'm gifted them by one of my friends who can't believe I prefer the pipe.

Have to say, though, that one of my most memorable smokes was a Cuban Hoyo. I fingernailed* that baby and the room note was absolutely incredible.

*smoked it until it was so short I could only hold it between my fingernails. Take your choice of exaggeration or hyperbole.

Many of the guys in our local group smoke both ciagrs and pipes. So at any time there will be a handful of both going. We are having a pipe smoking contest this weekend, and to make sure we didnt leave the ciagr guys out, we are having a smoke ring blowing contest. We also have a local pipe smoking club, and have people stop in just to enjoy the company. Though we are a pipe smoking club, I have many times fired up a cigar.

To me its moreso the brotherhood of smoking tobacco and not a division therein. We have enough problems with people not liking smoke....we need to band together as much as possible.

I would have to agree, with a few exceptions. There are some pipe tobaccos that IMO are much stronger than any cigar I've ever had, 1792 & Bracken Flake come to mind, they are very dark & rich &full-bodied.

I just think it's a completely different experience, I equally enjoy both on a daily basis

havent had a cigar in about 3 weeks. Im sticking to the pipe for now. its cheaper. about 30 dollars has lasted me over a month with a pipe as with cigars woudl be gone in a few days. unless i get the original curly head no ring. those are great cigars for the price. the foot on them has the tobacco on the end of it and it lights the cigar up evenly. anyways. For smell and different obvious flavors like cherry, vanilla, smoked, sweet etc. i like that for a pipe some tobaccos i feel are complex but cigars its always changing in just one stick which makes them more complex. I love teh smell of both and i think a little bit of cherry or natural pipe smoke combining with cigar smoke will be very tasty.

Great idea! I suggest we have it at my (nonsmoking) ex's house...
