My hand made pipe

Almost done! The shape is different I know but that's what I was going for. I will post a new pic when I complete this guy.

Still needs stem work, sanding and some staining/wax......... Shape is complete never the less.

Still need to buff and fine tune the band..... This is so far from perfection but I learned a ton for my next pipes which I already started working on tonight.

Interesting shape! It'll have to have a name, though. How about Squash? I don't think that's been done before. The SydRox Freehand Squash. Kinda catchy!

Re: My hand made pipe

I like it, very different and unusual, excellent work, unfortunatly I have absolutly no skill with woodworking so I am very jealous.

Re: My hand made pipe

Did this pipe come as a carve your own kit? or was it just a hunk of briar? I'm really interested in carving a few pipes and there is a supplier for pipemakers in my area...believe it's pipe emporium. The reason I ask is because if it is a kit do they come with the bowl bored out and the shank drilled? Sorry so many questions. Just curious how you went about it.
The pipe looks great by the way. I really like the shape and it looks like some great handy work. Lots of patience. I can't wait to hear how it smokes.

Re: My hand made pipe

Very impressive! I would buy that pipe if I saw it in a store. Just a thought, but I think it would look even better with a tapered stem to continue the curvy looks of it. Once you get that shank flush with the stem it will be wonderful!

Actually pipe 1 and 2 are from my maple tree out front lol and pipe 3 was a peice of birdseye Maple from woodcraft ($3.99) and pipe 3 is the only one i actually made my own stem on. I am going to make 2 Olivewood pipes now and then move on to Briar. I ruined about 10 pipes before these 3 so use cheap wood while learning.

The stem on #3 is really neat! What is it?

Nice work on all the pipes!
