Joe, I hope my comment is taken only as small nitpicking critic. I'm relieved that the varnish is only wax....I just assumed it was a varnish because its so shiney. A wide thick stem is just a personal choice thing, I like to clench and I'm not so fond of tip protectors. I could easily pop on another stem, so no worries there. That said it is comfortable and looks good. To be honest I think my poker, No.9, is the nicest of the all....

Lovely pipes!
I find #9 perfectly classic, although #10 looks even better at my eyes... there's something unique and original in that shape, some kind of cool funkyness on the bowl and on the slim stem... love it.

No Dub, I completely understand the issue with the narrow button. It was something I experimented with a couple of times but haven't clench one myself since I don't think its really right to practice clenching a stem that I'm going to send someone on an unused pipe. My supply of stems was getting extremely low after messing up several and, going into another non-stop work and school week, I hoped the way it was would be acceptable. Maybe a bad decision. You can send the pipe back and I'll be more than happy to make another stem for it and make sure it matches up properly too. There's no substitute for some tripoli and a good bench mounted buffer.

No problems Joe, the stem is still clenchable, just not at the end of the bit. It's a case of finding the most comfortable position. My biggest concern was the varnish, some use should solve that. I really love the shape and the blasting. The only reason why I haven't smoked it yet is that I'm still breaking in a new Pete and I can only handle one at a time. But I'm still trying to figure a fair price to pay you...what do you think?

It was offered in exchange for your input. I wouldn't think of asking a price beyond that.

Mad Hatter,

Nice work. It is also very interesting to hear your thoughts on the pipe making process.

Thanks all you guys for your kind words and support in my transition to the pipe making world. I can honestly say sheer talent is the only substitute for the right tools, and thank God I've been able to afford the right tools Dan Kerr's also pushed me along with support and challenges along the way. Somebody send that man some St Bruno

I wish the folks here could see that 2nd one up close and personal. Pics don't do it justice. And it's a straight pipe with a very large bowl that doesn't threaten to unhinge my jaw while I'm clenching it. 8 bowls of St Bruno in this baby and the pouch is gone, gone, gone!
