I really like the Frog Morton regular blend. There is a taste of Latakia which is perfect. I really enjoy it. No tongue bite.

Re: I love the Frog Morton

All of the frog blends are excellent ATP is in my opinion the best it is blended with Syrian Latakia which to me provides a much better "smokey" taste. Just take a look at tobaccoreviews to get an idea of what other pipe smokers think about the Frog blends, and if you are interested I believe pipesandcigars had a sampler called Froggie Went a Courtin or something like that which provides you with a 50g tin of each one of the frogs, seems like every tin in the frog series that I purchase from pipesandcigars has around 3 years of age as well which is a very pleasant surprise!

Thought I would go ahead and provide you with the link that I was talking about again I am not affiliated with this company in any way just a very satisfied customer.

Tin Pipe Tobacco Sampler "Froggy went a courtin' " (50g)

Looks like you only save around .54 cents going with the sampler but still a good way to pick up all the blends at once.

They compare rather differently, which I would think is the point of having four of them. The original is more the traditional latakia blend, while Across The Pond uses Syrian latakia (which I've found I don't care for), the On The Bayou includes perique and the On The Town (my favorite) includes Basma leaf with a bit less latakia.

I take an interest in these because although I know a lot of people that smoke one of the four regularly, I've not come across anyone that smokes 2 or more of them regularly. That would indicate that they are all quite different and there is a need for all four of them. It's an interesting line for McClellands.

Re: I love the Frog Morton

I was just looking at pipes and cigars website before I read this, they have a package of all four of the "frog" blends for $30 I'll be ordering that soon.

Re: I love the Frog Morton

That's the route I took. It's not that much of a price break, but I figure you've got to try all four, right? That said, the big difference that sets the original apart from ATP and OTT (I traded the OTB away before I could pop the tin, alas...) isn't just the latakia level, but the sweetness. The original takes care of my sweet tooth while the other two don't.

On the other hand, I can get enough Frog quite easily; if I smoke more than a bowl every few days or so of English blends, they seem to lose their flavor for me. I'm probably still puffin' too hard...

Re: I love the Frog Morton

They're all different blends with generous amounts of latakia being the tie that binds. Like dmkerr stated above, I know lots of people like these but they usually have one that really rings their chimes

I cracked open my first tin of FM last week, will probably give it a go sometime next week. I'm really looking forward to trying it...I haven't had anything with latakia yet this pipe season!

Nice pipe!

Union Square to start the day. About two thirds of the way through my second tin of this, I've got to say, I think I'll be skipping the feeding frenzy to stock up on this; just not much there as far as I can taste.

On the basis of two bowls so far, I'd have to agree, although two bowls isn't a fair trial. On the other hand, I get the distinct feeling that this blend is going to age like a mofo. Just something about it says to me that in 3-5 years, this'll be a killer. I bought two tins and I'm not touching the second one until at least 2012.

I looked at that pipe to purchase a bunch of times and couldn't decide. Thanks for saving me some coin! Let us know how she smokes.
