Question concerning latakia

Hey gang,

One more question about latakia. I love the taste of it. I have a few questions.

1. Is latakia mostly mixed in english blends

2. Do I need a pipe just to smoke latakia with

3. Would I need a different pipe to smoke english, and another for latakia.

Heres a shocker, GASP I smoke everything out of the same pipe.... I smoke one blend for half a week to a week then switch off... the ghost is only noticable for a day or so in the transition. Then again I am a little overzealous in my pipe cleaning... so I wouldn't reccomend this.

That'll work for a while but eventually and despite your cleaning practices you'll have a pipe that loses all the accents with any blend.

Hm, so I'm thinking i'll dedicate the pipe i'm currently abusing to latakia, and one I don't like as much to Va or Vaper. Is it the cake buildup that affects accents of a particular tobacco... cause I'm wondering what changes over time.

Like If I smoked a heavy latakia tobbaco for a month how long would it take smoking a Vaper tobbaco in the same pipe for it to get all the latakia taste out... or is the pipe just stuck as having that latakia flavor forever?

I honestly can't answer that either way. Depends on the tobacco and the pipe. The flavor does get in the cake but it goes beyond that as well. But then again there's no reason to restrict your enjoyment too much if you only have two pipes.

OP - Latakia is also found in non-english blends such as balkans that don't have all the right ingredients and ratios to be classified as english, maybe even in higher concentrations. I never liked english blends but I've favored some latakia rich balkan blends and some others where latakia was a very mild condiment.

I found out this one the hard way; I used my Dr. Grabow (yeah, I know; not a big loss) for everything that came my way as a 'try out' pipe, and now everything I smoke in it tastes pretty much the same.
