Being brand new to pipes (have smoked about 6 bowls) I was having trouble keeping my bowl lit and burning evenly. I clicked on the link to your videos and watched a bunch of them. I watched the one on Maintaining your bowl and decided to try it.

I used the Frank method to fill the pipe and got it started. the tip you gave on tamping being pretty much the equivalent of lighting was spot on. When I noticed the smoke getting thin and weak I would give a very light tamp (just the weight of the tool) and voila, it was the same as if i had stuck a flame to it. I smoked the complete bowl with only 1 relight.

I tried it again the next night and got the same results. Thanks to you I can now go out in public and smoke a pipe without having to relight every 2 minutes and looking like an idiot.
