Campus Smoking Ban
I saw a booth on Campus today where they had a petition to ban smoking on campus. This is at Arizona State University. The campus here is about a square mile with other buildings surrounding it meaning if this went into effect a smoker would have to walk between a quarter mile to half mile just to smoke. Not to mention enforcing this if it went into effect.
I think resources would be better spent catching rapists, drug users, and bike thiefs on campus. There are a lot of things on campus that I don't like and could potentially affect my health but I don't think we should kill peoples rights just to make a select group happy. |

Well said. People will resort to smoking in their dorm rooms using dryer sheets stuffed into plastic water bottles ....

I would be shocked if this went into effect. Its state owned property so it would be very hard to do.

I can see the day coming when we all keep a baggie of marijuana with us so we can claim our pipe isn't for tobacco...

At my school here in Baltimore, our campus is literally one city block, and we have about a five foot square on a balcony to smoke. It's terrible.

Do-Gooders will always look to try to protect us from ourselves. Its like they have nothing better to do but deny people their individual rights and choices. Just walk by and blow smoke in their faces and grin.

I've recently graduated from a university that had a no smoking policy. However, I took advantage of this by going out for a drive to smoke or going somewhere peaceful and secluded. Made my smoking that much more meaningful and soothing. Something rather necessary in the crazy college life.
