So what is the big deal with stonehaven. I hear it's hard to find too. I was hoping my local B&M sold it by the ounce, but I don't think they do. Is it all you can find is 8 oz. Anybody want to sell a few ounces.

PM me with your mailing address and I'll send you a sample and you can decide if it lives up to the hype.

Re: Stonehaven

It's horrible stuff, way over-hyped. Don't even bother with the samples.

Re: Stonehaven

Lol I was about to post the same exact question. Glad someone finally posted it. I have been wondering what Stonehaven was all about since I joined. If you are a new pipe smoker, let me know if you like it Mitch.

I'll be the test dummy, I ordered some a couple day's ago while researching a gift for a friend who is a pipe smoker.

All I have is an antique mercham is that gonna work, okay guess I better get to reading again haven't smoked a pipe in probably 20 years.

Re: Stonehaven

All I can say is there IS a reason this stuff is hard to find. It is an excellent VA Burley blend, just a perfect smoke.

Re: Stonehaven

Had an 8oz bag a few years back. If I recall, it had a red wine like flavor to it. Wasn`t overly impressed and I must have gifted it away. Maybe it was to fresh at the time. After reading all the fan fare here, sounds like I may have to revisit this sleeper and give it another go.

Wrong 'haven. Stoney has a distinct chocolateylikey touch, but solid burley behind it. Makes you shake your head and go "oof" after the first puff. Good stuff, no doubt!

Re: Stonehaven

Several reasons for the hubub. 1) Its good, 2) production of VA/burley blends isn't nearly as prolific as with other types of blends, and 3) panic buying and cellar building depleted e-tailer stocks last year leading to speculation that the blend is going away which led to more panic buying and more cellar building.

Re: Stonehaven

OK, samples are in the mail but I didn't make it before the post office closed so that means they'll probably sit in the collection bin until Monday. Since these are going standard snail mail I have no way of tracking them so please post when you receive them.
