Re: I am smoking "The Rope"
Mitch, found the ropes are a good condiment w/ a more mild smoke like a virginia, Va/per, or a burley. A little goes a long way. Don't give up on it yet.

Re: I am smoking "The Rope"
You might look at Marscigars if you haven't already. They had the best selection back when I was shopping for ropes. I believe there is also a G,H inc Maple flavored rope too, as well as Black Cherry Twist which was my favorite of brown #4, Black XX, Bogie, SRT, & BCT
Overall I don't really care for twists. I think they burn very hot and very harsh and only smoke well in a larger bowl. I've found I like strong tabaks in smaller bowls because I only get the nicotene punch in a smaller bowl. Dunno why. That's just the way it is

Re: I am smoking "The Rope"
There's a certain romance with them among pipe smokers that, alas, doesn't hold up in the bowl for me. I think one could get the same flavor by smoking old cigarette ashes. At my age, refinement is what it's all about with tobacco. Brute strength for its own sake doesn't do much for me.

Re: I am smoking "The Rope"
Yo to All !
I am new here. I bought some Bogie recently. I chewed some and I am waiting to smoke some soon. My recollection is that G&H Brown Irish X and G&H Brown Bogie are roughly the same recipe in different diameters? Otherwise, it is good to be here. My "chewing" tale is next. I took my cigar cutter and slice a 2 mm slice. It may be the best thing for cutting it. I placed this "nickel" between my cheek and gum for about 15 minutes. I used my disposable spit cup. The first sensation was very spicy hot. Next it was like some nice tobacco but very bitter. I spit it out after the time limit out of necessity. This was my first "chew." My head was spinning with a slight headache and a bit of nausea. The nic buzz was huge. Historically, I believe the medium and smaller ropes and twists were chewed and smoked by British coal miners? I am looking forward to smoking the brown bogie in a small bowl, Kaywoodie. 'Bye, Ray |

Re: I am smoking "The Rope"
I believe you are correct. The 3 types of G&H tobaccos I recently ordered all smell identical. Brown Irish X, Brown Bogie, & Dark Flake.
