Interesting, ropes are a very different smoke that's for sure. Is it possible it's SG Black XX rope?

Yup that is it. Not the most pleasant smoke I had. Tasted like badly aged beef jerky. Each his own I guess.

I don't really like it either, beef jerky is a good description. It's sweet but brutal at the same time.

I did notice the sweetness in it, faintly. It had a deep smokey flavor in it. But the after notes were unbearable. I didn't like it and I couldn't finish the bowl, I doubt I even smoked half of it.

Let's see... half a bowl... assuming a normal Group 4 sized bowl and a standard billiard or apple shape... divided by the life expectancy actuarial table... ok... carry the two... ok, got it.

You just shortened your life by 2.7 years by smoking a half bowl of rope tobacco.

Kidding, of course. But as I've said before, there's a good reason those guys from the 18th and 19th centuries didn't live as long as we do today.

Well this is probably true, although I can't imagine many of the old timers liking this stuff. Or anyone for that matter. People probably smoke it just to say they can do it

Anybody got anything to add?
