Everything I have had from Boswell's was great. I like their aromatics. Everything I have had tastes great, and all but 1 of them my wife lets me smoke in the house because it smells good too..

Boswell's "Christmas Cookie" and "Spice and Nice" come to mind.

I don't think I could ever buy something called "Christmas Cookie" due to the fact I would eat it

I tried Stanwell Melange and did not like it much. However, the smell from the pouch says, "Eat me!" in the nicest way and the room note, Mrs. Moo said, was great.

Re: Can I please get some tobacco suggestions?

I dont think you should worry about your tobacco smelling masculine, to me if your smoking a pipe...you already have balls especially if your smoking in public. Its not common...at all anymore and so not as easily accepted by society. That being said you decided to smoke a pipe so smoke whatever you like and worry about flavor more than smell unless the smell is why you like smoking.

As for suggestions, I would reccomend a match of Dunhill's Early Morning pipe, such as Altadis, C&D's Good Morning or pipeandcigar.com's Daybreak. It smells good in a masculine way, has zero peppery taste (I hate that too), its smooth, easy to light and pack. O and it tastes great to me.

I might also reccomend Hearth and Home Larry's Blend...that will smell uber masculine like smokin' ribs and sitting around a campfire. And it tastes good with no peppery heat. Pretty smokey tasting but there are a lot of flavors going on there.

SOmeone will make fun of me for this, but if you want an easy smoking, beginner friendly baccy, that is of a distinctive aroma with out going all fruity, check out Altadis Fox and Hound. I know, I know....it Altadis.....the epitome of cheap. But this really is a nice smoker, with no bite, and lots of depth and character to keep you interested in what is happening in your bowl.

Re: Can I please get some tobacco suggestions?

I'm on my porch smoking the Fox right now.... and i have to say, not bad at all.

Let me start off by saying i don't do latakia. I dunno, it's just not my thing. Well, maybe not right now. I'm too caught up in my Virginians and aromatics, so maybe i'll phase into english. But so far i'm impressed with Fox and Hound. It definitely has that smokiness to it, but at the same time it's creamy. I'm smoking it out of a cob and it sure doesn't taste like "free tobacco". It taste quite nice actually. I'm gonna have to visit the other 2 packs i got for free to see if there is a gold mine here.

Wow thanks for the suggestions everyone! Full Virginia Flake got the most votes, so even though someone noted that flake tobacco might not be for newbies like me, I might just have to try it. I'll have to bring my post count up to 5 so I can get into that newbies trading/sample section!

I'll warn you in advance....almost every other ALtadis baccy I've had was a tongue bite horror with no flavor....with the exception of Evening Stroll.

Altadis has a mild english blend called Count Pulaski that I really enjoy. Just sayin.

I have to agree with Mr. Moo; I tried FVF early in my smoking and it was very frustrating. I didn't get a really good smoke out of that first tin until it was almost gone. On the other hand, I keep buying it now, so I guess it was worth it!

Yeah, thats the apricot smelling one. Was interesting, but it didn't tickle the palate sufficiently.

Lol! Reminds me of the argument I got into with a college kid the other night. He told me Busch Light was the best beer. I looked at him like he was an idiot and he asked me what kind I like. I prefer dark beers like Guinness.

I also smoke aromatics.

My fav right now is butternut burley which is also the first one I tried.

You can shoot me now, but I recently picked up some cheap Half & Half and I love the stuff. I am not a very refined smoker .
