check the stickied topic that is the "FAQ/Getting started", lots and lots of info about cleaning your pipes.

some of the better ebayers will clean the pipes before they sell them, and they'll state as such in the auction. those guys you can trust to have cleaned 'em.
the others, i'd give it a good cleaning myself with some cleaners, q-tips, and the alcohol/salt treatment.

Yeah, frenchy has some good deals on estate pipes as well, the only problem with his site is the good stuff goes fast. Which is good for him.

Premierpipes also has some estate pipes as well, right now they have a good deal on a boswell estate pipe, these are a little hard to find. (Boswell estate in general)

Just cleaned a pipe myself today. Very easy to do and kinda fun also. Used the alcohol/cotton ball method and soaked the stem in Oxyclean.

Worked extremely well. Will finish it off with a coat of Paragon wax on the bowl and stem.

That's a great looking pipe. I just picked up my first two estates today. One of which is also a La Strata. I dropped it off at the B&M to get a new bit and cleaning.
