Hi from a newbie!
Hi fellow primates! Thought I'd introduce myself as a newbie to this excellent jungle.
Currently in the UK but heading out to New Zealand with the family at the end of July to live, so if there are any NZ gorillas out there who can advise what the local pipe scene is like, I'd be interested to hear. Relatively new to pipe smoking and currently have four pipes - 2 x Peterson Standard System 314 pipes and 2 x Stanwells, (a Rhodesian and a Calabash). Still experimenting with tobaccos, but have a couple of favorites or three already - Samuel Gawith's Squadron Leader, Mac Baren Vanilla Cream Flake and Old Gowrie... all great stuff. Have to say I'm a little envious of you guys in the USA - sounds as if there's some great pipe tobacco available in the land of the free!!!

Re: Hi from a newbie!
Welcome to CS.
If the Dunhill shop still sold tobacco, I'd say you'd be wrong in your assessment of which side of the pond has the better tobacco opportunities; since the company broke with the tradition that made it what it is today, however, I guess I'll just have to be happy with what we have here (and the far better prices). I miss My Mixture #10! ![]() |

Thanks for the mention there drrgill! hi irish and welcome to CS, as drgill said im very new to pipe smoking, still waiting to have my first proper bowl (no tobacco shops in my area) but i have done a little bit pipe resotoration (look for my first pipe project in this forum) which i think i am quite good at (i use the word think very loosly), probably because i have a background in practical things. shame your heading off to NZ, would have been nice to have another UK piper around here. |
