RH for Pipe Tobacco?

I know that you shouldnt store pipe tobacco with your cigars because there will be flavour transfer and also because the RH of 70% will be too high for the tobacco. However my house is practically a walk in humi with the ambient humidity always being around 60-65%. Should i set up a mini humi in which to store my pipe tobacco at a lower RH than this? I assume that if it is too humid in a 70% humi then 65% ambient room humidity is also going to be too high. What sort of RH should pipe tobacco be stored at? Is it quite low, if so maybe a tupperdor with dessicated silica gel inside to absorb excess moisture?

any help would really be appreciated.

Re: RH for Pipe Tobacco?

There is no hard and fast rule for pipe tobacco storage concerning RH as there is with cigars. Airtight and cool will work to keep the tobacco fresh and moist. All you need to do is dry it out a tad before smoking it.
