First pipe on its way...

I have been looking at this forum for a few days now and I wanted to give pipes a try. I have been smoking cigars for a little while, altho this site also helped develop THAT too, but I really wanted to try adding something new to the line up. The pipe I got was this one, http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.c..._1902_11377071 , I figured with an investment of $6 I wouldnt be sad if things didnt turn out favorable. I also should be getting the free sampler pack from Altadis. Is there anything else I should pick up as for tobacco or accesories or anyting i should know before trying to make this happen?

You'll need to get yourself a pipe tool. It shouldn't cost more than a couple of bucks at your local tobacco shop. If you can't get one of those, a nail will do fine for tamping your bowl. Also, a package of pipe cleaners can be had at Wal-Mart for 79 cents.

ok you are smoking aromatics which are very moist in a bent which for me means you have the opportunity to smoke it hot and have gurgle (which means the liquid will come up the shank through the stem and into your mouth). smoke very slowly, better to relight than to have that nasty stuff come into your mouth. if you feel or hear the gurgling noise you can either gently blow back into the pipe (purging) or use a pipe cleaner to soak up some of the moisture. i prefer the first method. be sure not to tamp too often or too hard. that you will have to learn by trial and error. good luck and enjoy.

Some pipe cleaners and a bottle of el cheapo whisky or vodka for cleaning the pipe. A pipe tool is handy but not essential. other than that read the info contained on this forum and happy piping.

Ha ha yea well it was VERY affordable at $5.95 plus shipping, so i hope it will do me well and if worse comes to worse and its not for me, I'll keep you in mind.
