the weight is in the tobacco, so a 2 oz tin will weigh more than 2 oz. there are a lot of factors that go into what a tobacco weighs... but the biggest are the moisture level and the weight. I ended up getting a cheap food scale to be able to weigh out stuff.
I just weighed a 50g tin of Grey Havens and it came to 75g
Nothing is better than a pan balance. Scales get wonky, center it so the pans are level when empty, weights are cheap. Unless you're going under a gram the accuracy is great. Got a nice large antique one at a flea market a couple years ago for $5. Gravity still works where I'm at. I tend to grab old science stuff, if it's way underpriced.
