Drying out tobacco?

Im currently having problems with excessive moisture and tongue bite. im pretty certain this is due to my tobacco being too wet, esp the aromatics. I have tried the usual method of taking out enough for a bowl and leaving it to air on a peice of paper however the problem is that RH in the UK is currently between 60% and 70%. thats right the whole country is a walk in humidor! but this means that my baccy isnt drying out at all. Anyone got any suggestions on how I might dry it out?

Re: Drying out tobacco?

A short time in the oven works for some people.

Someone else chime in here cause I've never had to do this.

Re: Drying out tobacco?

A hair dryer on medium heat maybe? Probably a bit more cost-effective and faster than warming up the oven.

Re: Drying out tobacco?

I know that dehumidifiers are made (I have one in a firearms safe). You might try one of those.

I've had luck with leaving the container open for a bit.

Re: Drying out tobacco?

Ok. I finally have it. Spread the tobacco into a thin layer under a lamp (100watt bulb in an adjustable table lamp) for 20 to 30 minutes. Should work great.

i have tried the oven methos but it is very hit and miss, sometimes too hot and too dry, other times doesnt really do anything. Makes the house smell great tho, although my mother doesnt like it, lol
