Basic tips for a noob thread?

This has probly been stated a million times, but has changed just as often i sopose. SO i was wondering... where should i guy start in the world of pipes. I hate ciggeretes. I love cigars... so i mean i have to try a pipe one of these days i sopose, but dont wanna fall TO far in lol. With cigars on the other hand.. lol yep im a goner haha. Any tips on a decent low priced pipe and some tobaccy that i could look into that may veer me to a direction to GOOD pipe smok'n. Thanks ladies and gent's

Good first time pipe tobacco is called Lane 1Q, it's an aromatic, but isn't "flavored" per se. If you want to give english a try, something called "English Luxury" is also a good starter. As far as pipes go, you get what you pay for. Check out ebay for some decent estate (used) pipes, that's about the only way you'll get a good deal on a real pipe.

Good guy to deal with. A little odd, but nice friendly person to deal with. My first order that I made he had the package sent and on the way before he had my payment. That says a lot to me.

If there's a place around that sells corn cob pipes, pick up a couple. You should be able to get one for about $5. Some places will sell small bags of bulk tobacco...or if they're really good, they'll let you try a blend or two gratis.

Hope you enjoy pipe smoking. It's a great experience. Remember, you probably won't pick it up right away. It will take a long time to hone your technique, but there are plenty of tips on here about that to get you started on your way.

heh cause its more fun to post it and know that people are giving you advice personally, as opposed to a generic guide for anyone.

Get thee to a B&M that has a fair amount of pipe stuff and ask questions. Look at the pipes from the best to the baskests, smell the tobacco, and ask questions. They may even be able to show you how its all done so you can ask more questions. In person is best for that first pipe. After all that if you still have questions just ask.

Since when is Vanilla not a "flavor" per say? Just wondering.
