tobacco mixing in pipe
Should you smoke your pipe with one type or style of tobacco, or is it ok to smoke aromatic one day and then another day smoke a non-aromatic?

Re: tobacco mixing in pipe
I would recommend designating one pipe in particular for smoking aromatics. I also like to keep my English blends in certain pipes and Virginias in others.

Re: tobacco mixing in pipe
There is no "wrong" way ... it all depends on your personal tastes and budget. Many long time pipe smokers will smoke the same pipe several times per day ... day in and day out ... sometimes with the same blend ... sometimes with different blends ... and they enjoy it just fine. To others (connie sewers) this type of activity is deemed crazy - and they will want to call the men with the padded van to come get you.
Just be aware that when you go back and forth with different tobaccos in the same pipe, you are mixing in some of the flavors from the previous bowl ... essentially missing out on the "true" flavor profile of the current blend. If you are Ok with that ... then who's to say it's bad? |

Re: tobacco mixing in pipe
Its not recommended to smoke English blends and aromatics in the same pipe because of ghost flavors that can be left behind. Also if you going to smoke more then a few times a week you should have a couple of pipes to switch back and fourth with. the main reason being that the pipe acts as a filter and smoking in it multiple times a day can as stated above can interfere with the flavor of the tobacco.

Re: tobacco mixing in pipe
I tend to have my pipes broken down into three sets...a set for aromatics, a set for english's, and a set for virginia's and va/pers as they tend to be more delicate...

Re: tobacco mixing in pipe
Smoke your pipe how YOU want to, dont let anyone else tell you otherwise!
i personally have designated pipes for aromatics (cob) others for english blends and others for virginias, these choices are not so much based on stopping the flavour mixing, but more due to the fact that certain pipes smoke certain tobaccos better, ie my welbour has a system that keeps the smoke dry and is well caked which helps keep dry and cool, therefore it smokes virginias great! however this may note be for you, so as long as your happy with your smoking style then all is good! |
