Bulk verses Tinned
In my short time of smoking a pipe, I have only ever bought bult tobaccy. I have never tried a tinned tobaccy.I can buy a lot of the English blends, I have been trying by the once, that way to see which ones' I like. Am I, missing out on the flavor of tobacco by not buying it in the tins? .

Re: Bulk verses Tinned
You are being dollar-wise buying the bulk blends while getting a handle on which styles of tobaccos you like ... but eventually you should start trying tinned blends as well. Most do not have bulk counterparts, so you are missing out on quite a number of excellent choices. One good way to sample more blends is to join PIF or box passes.

Re: Bulk verses Tinned
I am cheap......I have liked a lot of the bulk stuff I have tried. I am running low and need to buy some more tobacco. That is why I am asking, I am thinking of buying some tins to try. The shops around here have most of the tinned tobacco. Has anyone noticed the flavor difference in the tobaco that are tinned and bulked?

I have purchased some bulk versions of MacBarens that didn't seem as good either. Also the CAO / Dan's such as Durbar, etc. are somehow a little different in the 8 oz. packs compared to the tins. Also there is a thought out that "if it's not good enough to market in tins, it is sold in bulk". Or something to that effect. In the Gawith & Hoggarth flakes the bulk versions seem to be as good as the tinned stuff. ![]()
