tobacco suggestion

alright everybody, im back after a week. after my initail back and forth with IHT, you might have thought i fled (if you noticed someone as insignificant as me even left) but never fear, i was only deer hunting (dont ask how that went)

to the point

im finally ordering tobacco and need a suggestion on what to get. I like darker maduro cigars. the only pipe tobacco ive had is sir walter raleigh and captain black light....of the two i prefered the captain black. I did not like the captain black sweet little cigars.

Also does anyone know a site that sells cheap pipes (a la Frenchy - he is out of the newcomer starter set) and pipe tobacco both so i can save on shipping? Smokingpipes does not appear to have pipes cheaper than the Petes, and i dont smoke often enough to to justify a purchase of one of those yet (not to mention a small cash flow problem - why cant grass grow during the winter?)

thanks

Re: tobacco suggestion

Try Marscigars.com. He's got a great selection of tobaccos and pipes ... including cheapies for beginners.

Pipe tobacco is a whole different animal when compared to cigars though ... and there are a lot more choices.

Re: tobacco suggestion

another question...does anyone know if the university pipes (grade b) are a good deal for the money? i know they wont be as nice as a peterson or a pipe that costs hundreds of dollars, but are they a good way to try a briar?

THey are a good company. They ship quickly and have some very good blends of their own.

For starters though, why not try a local B&M. You can probably get a decent basket pipe from most in the $10-$20 range, a pipe mail or tool for another buck, and most have a few blends that they would be willing to let you try.

I would sugest an English Blend. Maybe something like a Dunhill Medium Mixture or mixture 965.

Re: tobacco suggestion

where i live, no tobacco sellers cary any pipe supplies other than dr grabows and drugstore tobaccos. any thing of quality has to be ordered or gotten on road trips. I already have a pipe tool, cleaners, and a cob.

Re: tobacco suggestion

As far as pipes you could try the savinelli duca carlo($30-$39), and for stronger pipe tobacco try the uhle's 232 (Thanks TWill). I also believe the english blends are stronger. Try tobaccoreviews.com I believe is the spot, will give you info on just about any brand of tobacco.

was just messing with you, in a fun way...

would your parents be all upset if you got a package from someone else and it contained pipe tobacco and maybe a pipe?
if not, send me a PM with your address and best time for it to get there.

he's gotta make sure the "rents" don't find out (or his babysitter). they'd ground him from his Nintendo for a day if he gets caught. and he could just forget about his afterschool snack (fruit roll-ups & Kool-aid Jammers).

not sure if they would or not, i ordered it with a friend at college that was getting cigars. appreciate the offer though. besides I canf accept a gift from someone that disses the fruit roll-ups and kool-aid; id still eat those everyday if we had them - being a little kid sure was fun.

that's cool. just so you know for certain, i'm not singling you out and trying to be a dick. just razzing on you a bit.
there was another really young member on here i still continue to give a load of crap to, tecnorobo. his downfall was that he lives 30 minutes away from me. through all the crap i've given him, he's been over to my house, attended herfs we've had in KC, and i gave him and his friend a humidor (and some smokes)....
i've got a 6 yr old of my own, and an 18 yr old step-son (who doesn't live here anymore - amen, but that's another story).

so, just giving you some chit, thought i'd make an offer, get you a decent little pipe and some 'baccy samples.

ps - i still eat fruit roll-ups w/ my six yr old (not a fan of kool-aid jammers, they stain too easy).
