Aging?

Now,I am a completely indoctrinated cigar smoker who tries to age cigars-but when I bought tobacco from Tinder Box in the 80's I remember getting fresh loose tobacco and smoking it right away. Do you age your tobacco? Doyou store it in the tins or put it in a class humi? Is therea thread here that talks about the care of your pipe tobacco?

If you go through the tin in a fairly decent amount of time then you can keep it on the tin

Any bulk or loose baccy I keep in sealed jars. It will age it and keep it fresh for a very long time.

Re: Aging?

yes, i suggest reading the STICKIES.

ps - don't put them in a humi where you would store cigars. A) smell could make the humi stink B) pipe tobacco and cigars are kept at different RH's.

Re: Aging?

No real point to aging Aromatic (flavored or scented) tobaccos. Most non-Aromatics do well in the original sealed tin. If open, put in sealed glass jars for best storage. Store in a cool dry place. If you live in a high or low humidity area of the country (or world) having a sealed container keeps the proper moisture content and hopefully prevents mold from developing.

Re: Aging?

Thanks for the info...I'm going to buy some small jars today. Just to be able to rotate the tobacco I smoke and keep it fresh in between.
