Trying to get a Stanwell

I've been shopping for Stanwells for over a week now, and I've decided to get one. Got the high bid on this one right now. Cross your fingers, and wish me luck.

Used to have two Stanwells. So long ago I don't remember. One was a limited edition. Smoke very cool. You will enjoy. Next step is a Dunhill.

The price seems to have dropped a lot since I was smoking.

Nope, you don't have it anymore I do.

Just kidding, great looking pipe and the price seems to be pretty good.

Re: Trying to get a Stanwell

It's gone up a bit, but I've bid as high as I'm going to go on this one.

And Bruce, I've been keeping an eye on The Smoker, but the shapes that appeal to me seem to be the ones that have already appealed to other people, if you know what I mean.

Would that be this one, then? I really like this pipe and think it might be my new first choice.

Well, I have the one with the smooth finish. It feels a little funny in the hand, but it is a great smoker.

I haven't been able to find that particular zebrano.

I've seen the rusticated and the sandblasted versions for sale, though.

Nice Pipe - I'm trying to get hold of one of those funky looking Japanese designed freehands - but they cost a fortune. If anyone knows where they go for a good price let me know!

Smokin pipes is the only US retailer that ive seen that has em.
There is a websight for a japanese retailer in english.... i cant remember the link, but if you google some of the japanese carver's names you should find it.
im pretty sure they ship to the US, but you will probably take a big hit on the exchange rate, better to buy from smoking pipes.

Tsuges on the other hand are pretty easy to find. got a nice one new for under $80... great little pipe, my 1st briar.. the grain isint perfect, but its got a nice volcano shape.... im sure if the grain was better (perfect volcano) it would retail for much more.

But thats probably not what you are looking for..
Someday ill be able to afford one of those freehand pipes..
personally i think they look great, to each their own
