2001 Penzance

Just won a tin of this on ebay. I paid a bit more than I intended, but I had a little cash to blow, and I've been looking for a good English blend, so why not?

Here it is.

Hope it's good, or I might be looking to unload a slightly used tin of Penzance in the near future.

i was watching that one as well, along with some of their other auctions.
today alone, there have been 4 tins that i've let go that i didn't want to bid on because they were way too expensive.

somebody overpaid for a tin of Escudo, like $18 before shipping... for a tin you can get for $7 at smokingpipes.

Yeah, I actually didn't intend to pay that much for this, but I guess I got a little bit of the ebay bug.

This will be great in my churchwarden.....if I can get the stem fitting right again.

[SIZE="1"]edit IHT - i didn't mean that you paid too much. i had just happen to see that auction, wasn't exactly on my watch list. these are the ones i was watching and never bid on.

How bad could it possibly be?

Personally, I'd say that you paid a very fair price for a 5 yo tin of Penzance. If I didn't have a few tins in my cellar and I was looking for some, I'd have paid up to $15/$17. Call me crazy, if you want, but I would get to smoke at least 10 bowls from a tin of Penznace, lasting an hour to an hour and a half, and it's an outstanding smoke. Tell me how many outstanding cigars, you be able to buy for $15/$17, that will last and hour to an hour and a half.

It's all relative, aged and rare pipe tobaccos will be expensive, however, well worth the cost, in most cases.

Re: 2001 Penzance

Just want to give an update on this. I finally got this tin yesterday, and even though I haven't opened it, the tin smells fantastic....like my grandfather's fireplace.

Also, if anyone is thinking of buying from ebay vendor kelkaycee, do it. We had a little mix-up with my address, and it got sent back to him. Well, after talking with him, he reshipped the package at no additional cost, and he even threw in a sample of Stokkebye bullseye, after I told him how I was just getting into tinned tobacco. This guy's a great botl, and I encourage you to support him, if you get the chance.
