MacBaren's Vanilla Cream: how to pack?

Gonna try the Vanilla creme, but have heard the packing can be key to enjoying this. While that is true of any tobacco, it has been made to seem that there is some special technique to use with this particular tobacco. Any advice? Oh, is this one that needs to be set out to dry for a few minutes/hours prior to filling the bowl? Thanks for all the help this board has given me.

I'm not sure about this particular blend, but from what I understand, many, if not most, tinned blends need to sit out to dry for at least a few minutes before packing. I may be wrong on this but thats what i gather from reading this board.

I had my first bowl of it today--and I tried the air pocket method...which worked okay for a little while (could've been operator error!), but when it went out I stirred it up and saw there was a lot of unburnt so I tamped it down pretty hard and it changed the whole complexion of the smoke, it became much more "creamy"...FWIW

I like the Vanilla Cream, I smoke it right after my wife starts to smell anything with latakia in it and tells me to go outside or smoke something else. Packing wise ill usually let it dry for 30-40 minutes and pack it fairly loose to the top of the bowl. I usually light it and set it down 3 or 4 times before I give it a good tamp giving me a good thick layer of ash before I start to smoke it up. Takes a bit more prep buts its the only way I can get it to smoke consistantly for a whole bowl in my pete.

I like to break it up as fine as I can then I sprinkle it into the bowl till it is heaped a bit, then give a thumb press to be flush with top of the bowl. It smokes cool and stays lit well with a light tamp every now and then. Also it only smokes for about45 min. till a dry white ash finish.
