African Block Meerschaum

So a girl in my masters program is going to Tanzania, Africa for spring break. I did a little research to see what I could give her money to buy me something when she goes....and found this:
"Large deposits of Meerschaum was discovered in Tanzania, Africa. The African pipe differs from the traditional block Meerschaum pipe as it is baked at an extremely high temperature to increase its durability and is often stained in varying shades of brown, black and yellow. This is an excellent pipe for the beginner or fast puffer."

I thought ...how cool to have an African meer pipe from Africa!!.....anyone have a clue how much i should give her?

I'm disappointed/surprised that no one knows about this kinda pipe..maybe y'all just missed it??....bump

I saw the one that Frenchy sold but I have no idea the cost for a handmade African model. I've seen online pipe FAQ's that say to steer clear so I imagine most people have little experience. That being said I'd definately pick one up from the source but I'd expect that I'd end up with more a tourist item than a great smoker. Give your friend some pipe pointers so she knows what to look for.

Thanks...we'll see how this turns out next week....Pics.....if i get something...I told her if she cant find a pipe, buy me something...lol. I explained meer to her what it should look like...ect...
