Beautiful pipes and that restoration is top notch JRC. I am restoring one of my great-grandfathers pipes and hope it turns out that well. I am temporarily stuck as I don't have a reamer yet though.

Re: Early KBB Kaywoodie Restoration

Nice work JRC! I have been experimenting with some older estate pipes and find the restoration of older pipes very rewarding. I have 2 '50s Kaywoodies that cleaned up very nicely and smoke great, and just won an auction for a couple more that look as though they will need a good bit of work.
One of the KWs has the Cloverleaf on top of the stem as opposed to the side. Can anyone tell me if this is any indcation of the age of the pipe?

Re: Early KBB Kaywoodie Restoration

Thanks for all the kind words, it's very interesting to see that this thread has made it back into circulation! I've noticed that the Kaywoodie Clover, or Club is often on top of the stem on older pipes. Does it by chance have a 4 digit shape number as well?

Still waiting.............I'll let you know when I receive it.
I'm thinking it will be pre-1948.

Re: Early KBB Kaywoodie Restoration

Very nice restore job, takes a lot of work

Interestingly my one kaywoodie only has two "clover leafs" i.e. the one on top is not there or appear to ever have been there.

Never seen another like it, so I assume its a wrong stem or some type of defect.
