My Cob after 3 bowls. Is this par?

I have smoked three bowls in three day in one of my cobs. Is this about what it should look like? Have I screwed up? Should I clean it with salt and Whiskey occasionally? I tried to find some stuff on cleaning it here. I guess I should google it, but want to know how you guys care for your's.

Thanks!

Also, if any of you guys ever want your Pipe Photographed in a certain way or setting, I would be glad to help. Wouldn't do it for $. Maybe a tin every once in a while, or free. Just to see a pretty pipe.

My God man ... it looks like there was a fire inside that pipe bowl.
Not sure if there is anything more you can do at this point. You'll no longer be able to get the big bucks that all the pristine / unused pipes fetch on Ebay. Might as well just keep smoking it ...

what DID you do??
Put tobacco in it and light it? OMG OMG!!!

Looks fine bro. I run a Everclear pipe cleaner thru after every smoke, when convenient...every 2 or 3 when it's not convenient. Also if there is a bunch of goop in the bottom of the bowl after a smoke I will twist a aper towel and quickly spin it in there to dry the bottom.

Nice cob by the way

Re: My Cob after 3 bowls. Is this par?

looks good to me.

that's one of those "CS forum prototypes pipes" isn't it?

as far as cleaning it, just take a pipe cleaner (which i forgot to send you) and run it through the stem when you're done. then bend the cleaner in half, stick the bent end down in the bowl and gently rub off any loose tobacco that's in there, especially down by the draught hole (can't smoke without air flow).
don't worry about salt/alcohol treating your "cob".

SmokeyScotch,

What brand is that cob? That looks like a well made pipe...

I still have my first corn cob pipe that I got back in 1981 (a MM) and it's darkened considerably over the years. Yours is just beginning that process and over time will take on more and more coloring as you smoke it.

i think it was just a standard Missouri Meerschaum that i got at a gas station/tobacco store here. it was part of his newbie sampler package.
they didn't have a price, so i asked, and they said it was $2 (so i got 3).

hopefully they're smoking well for him.

Probably. It's much easier than cigars.

For years I thought you were supposed to smoke the cedar wraps right along with the cigar. The cedros always tasted so bad to me, which was the reason I moved over to pipes. Pipe smoking saved me a small fortune in the first year; I bought a lot of tins and then it took me almost six months to figure out how to open them. Unlike you, I do not have the cajones to ask a question when I'm unsure. I just kept twisting the lid on a tin until my hands bled. Finally, the 12-year old next door showed me the "quarter" trick.

Enjoy your cob, Sm'otch! Hard to beat a pipe for tobak taste and nuance.

So true - the taste and nuance part. I never had a problem opening the tins - just used a hack saw! Jerry

What's the "quarter trick"? My tobacco has always come in pouches or ziplock baggies so far, lol

It's way better than the "grip of death bleeding hand" trick or the "hammer, chisel and pliers" trick. Set a coin or pipe tool in the "now obvious" depression beneath the lid; twist the coin to break the vacuum; twist open lid without drama. Sounds silly but it took me more than five minutes of temporary insanity to figure this out. I'm sure I am the only one.
