Has McC's changed their dating stamps?
I used to think that the stamp of the bottom of the McC's tin stood for day/month/year but on some recent tins the first two numbers are above 31. Have I been reading the tins wrong?
the tins in question are: 630107, 440706, 650107 My new guess is that is stands for number of tin/month/year without a day. Is this correct? thanks

Re: Has McC's changed their dating stamps?
their stamps have never been date/month/year.
it is "product # / batch # / 2 digit year" <-- from the owners mouth himself. if you have any "Virginia #24" flip it over and the first 2 numbers should be 24.

Good to know. Moral of the story is to not buy your first pipe tobacco at a tobacconist who specializes in cigars and has only one small shelf of pipe tobacco.

63rd day of January?
![]() now, C&Ds blends are day/mo/yr (or some order like that, maybe month/day/year).

Re: Has McC's changed their dating stamps?
The tins I first bought all had low numbers so I had no idea that they had no idea what they were talking about.

Re: Has McC's changed their dating stamps?
Would it be possible for someone who knows about dating systems on a variety of tins make a comprehensive post? Any they didn't know could be added by another gorilla, and then the whole thing put in the getting started sticky. I know every now and then a tin dating question pops up and it would be nice to have a reference. I dont know enough to do it, but I'm sure we'd appreciate if whoever could, did. my
and thanks to anyone that does it.
