Avalon Cigars Herf on Thursday or Friday?

Hey Georgia Herfers,

Tom from Avalon cigars just dropped me a line to let me know he'd be in the Atlanta area on Thursday and Friday. He's lookin' to herf, and he's bringing some Avalons with him! The only thing we gotta do is get some people together for a herf. These cigars are still pretty hard to find, so here's your opportunity to give 'em a shot.

So who's up for an Avalon Cigars herf on Thursday or Friday (11/1 or 11/2)? Let me know if you're interested, which day you can herf, and where you'd like to meet up.

Don't make me smoke a whole herf-worth of Avalons myself!

OK, so far we've got a vote for Thursday at Highland Cigar, and your vote for Friday... Did you have a preferred place to herf?

Looks like we're tied so far for the day of the week. I suppose I have the tie-breaker vote so far, but I don't want to call it yet. Anybody else interested?

Oh yeah, and of course other options are available besides Highland Cigar, such as Blue Havana II. I haven't been up to see Jim in a while, and I know he keeps the shop open pretty late if there's a lot of herfers around!

The Highland is cool. It's a bit of drive for me, but I haven't been in months. So it would cool to see what has changed. But the highland on a Friday is probably packed (I'm guessing).

If it's going to be after 5:00pm, we'll have to do it on Thursday. I will be driving back to Mississippi on Friday and I don't want to leave too late. We don't have a retailer in the Atlanta area yet, but I do have a good relationship one particular retailer if y'all don't have another venue in mind. If thisis going to be at a cigar lounge or a smokeshop, make sure you let the shop know that I will be passing out samples. I will be more than happy to co-ordinate with the retailer to make sure everything is a-ok. A crowd showing up to smoke Avalons could help to get them on the shelf.

Well, I know that Discdog is already planning on being at Highland Cigar on Thursday. It's a pretty cool place to hang out, and they don't mind people handing out cigars. (It's more of a bar that just happens to have a small humidor.) A week or two ago, I bumped into Sean from Primer Mundo there, and he handed out some free cigars to people. The other good thing about that location is that there's always a good group of cigar smokers there by default, even when no herf is planned.

OK, here's the scoop from their website (http://www.highlandcigar.com/): Brian Mitchell is the owner, Robert Horman is the General Manager and VP of Operations. While I don't think there'll be a problem, it's always a good idea to give 'em a courtesy call!

Since it looks like we've firmed up the date and time, I'll set up a event announcement.

If they do, it'll be a first. The last time I was there, I brought my own cigars. Nobody mentioned any sort of fee, and I didn't see one on my tab. Though I did buy a few beers while I was there, so maybe they waive it you're buying drinks.

I have heard about some weird fee if you hit 'em up for a light or a cut. I always bring my own cutter and lighter too.
