ya my hammers are bobbed on my J frames(model 36 and 60) and if I was gonna pocket carry a SP101 I would bob the hammer on that as well....The SP101 is a bit more "bulky" then a J frame....The SP101 has a loner barrel(2.25') than my model 36(38sp 1.78" barrel) and longer barrel length than my Model 60(357mag 2.125 barrel) and the SP101 has a bigger cylinder because its 6 rounds instead of only 5 with the J frames....SO a little more "bulk" but one more round.....
I totally understand and see that every operation or day needs a different tool. My main carry weapon is what I said but if need I do have a .357 340 pd S&W with ankle holster. You have to think about where your going and possibility of your target. My normal carry weapon in my .45 with a back up mag and tac lite but if i know I am going into a bad neighborhood I do carry a back up. I also carry a an auto knife on other side of my gun. it may sound extreme but you have to have assess what tool you need for what job.
You like an ankle rig for your Jframe? I know a couple guys who use an ankle rig when carrying a Jframe as a BUG. I very rarely carry a bug, but when I do, I tend to like it in my weak side pants pocket or jacket pocket That way I can get to a pistol with either hand.
For the same reason when I'm carrying I switch my knife to my weak side pants pocket.
I've been happy enough carrying a S&W J-frame 642; depending on the weather it works equally well OWB, IWB or pocketed. Trouble is, my father-in-law picked up a Sig Sauer P238 .380, the sweetest shooting compact auto I ever handled. It didn't like it enough to buy one but now I see they're going to duplicate this little 1911A1-style pee-shooter with a 9mm "pocket parabellum". I anxiously await the Sig Sauer P938. I expect I will purchase one when they finally come around. What's not to like?

The 938s are out from what I see over at the Sig Forum. I'm a big fan of Sigs but I can get by with my 239, no need to go smaller. I'd like to hear your impressions when you get one.
I drove my Mercedes 450,000 miles over the last 16 years; I have one Jeep Cherokee since 1994; and if I hadn't wrecked the '86 Goldwing I'd still be driving it, instead of the 2005 Goldwing. I'm the same with firearms - I don't swap/buy to keep up with the flavor of the month. I shop carefully, get what works for me and stick with it long and hard. The S&W snubbie took me years to decide on (put aside the Walther .380 I'd carried for 28 years) and I didn't think there was an auto I'd ever replace it with.
BUT! The old man's P238 is a mindbogglingly sweet compact .380 and it gave me pause to consider the 9mm version seriously. And, as a lefty, it's nice to see the ambi-safety feature standard. I am a fan of 9mm parabellum performance but couldn't get comfortable with a holstered Hi Power in spite of my familiarity and proficiency with that piece. It's OK in cold weather but I don't like swapping around. I though a five-round J-frame .38SPL was the deal for me but the P938 looks like the seven-shot carry-anywhere/anytime 9'er that'll shoot where I point it.
I carry a M1911a1, and a IWI Baby Desert Eagle almost everyday, the only exception is when I have to dress up then I just take one of them. Tucks in the pants right between my suit vest, and shirt. A spare mag goes into the dressy vest pocket. There are also pictures attached to this post If they ever pop up.
